Lakshmir Bhandar to Annapurna Bhandar: What Changed

When the Annapurna Bhandar scheme launched in June 2026, it replaced the earlier Lakshmir Bhandar programme. If you were already receiving Lakshmir Bhandar, here is what actually changed for you.

You did not need to reapply

Verified Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries were automatically migrated to Annapurna Bhandar. The same bank account, the same records — the migration happened on the government's side through the Social Registry database. If anyone told you to pay for "re-registration," that was a scam.

The amount went up to ₹3,000

The big change is the money: Annapurna Bhandar pays a flat ₹3,000 per month to all eligible women, replacing the older Lakshmir Bhandar slabs (which were ₹1,000 for general categories and ₹1,200 for SC/ST beneficiaries). From June 2026 onward, the higher amount applies.

What stayed the same

Payments still arrive via DBT into your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. If your bank account, mobile number, or Aadhaar details changed, update them — a failed DBT transfer is the most common reason a payment goes missing, and it is usually a seeding issue, not a scheme issue.

What to do if your payment stopped

First check whether the ₹3,000 was credited to your bank account (passbook, mobile banking). Then check your application status on socialregistry.wb.gov.in with your application ID or registered mobile number.
